Wild Hooves Open Hearts
Home
Wild Hooves Open Hearts is a nonprofit located in Glendale, AZ.  We provide sanctuary to wild mustangs, empowering them to live autonomously, while preserving their legacy.

We currently have two mustangs Sampson and Q (aka Curly Q).  They were both adopted from the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), which inhumanely rounds-up 20,000 or more mustangs every year.  At each round up, the males and females get separated. The males are castrated (gelded) and they are all freeze branded.  The families are separated forever.

The BLM has 60,000 mustangs held in captivity across the western states where in most cases their living conditions are harsh at best.  Many are placed in the adoption program, and if they are deemed un-adoptable.  They get pushed out to auction where kill buyers have access to buying them.

We are committed to making a difference for as many mustangs as possible, starting with our two.  We give them space, freedom and choice to work with humans or not.  We do not put pressure on them to do anything and we use a very effective and confidence training methods through Connection Training.  We do this only so we can tend to their needs (vet, farrier, fly masks, wound care. etc...)

We also have a teen program in partnerships with the horses to help teens with social isolation, stress, mental health, and overall well-being.

We create a safe environment for the teens and the horses and have tremendous and lasting results for the teens.
